Why should my website be mobile friendly?

Your website should be mobile friendly because mobile phones are taking over the world. Every woman, man and (some) small children have smartphones and are using them every day to browse the internet, shop, bank, watch TV and communicate.

The Google God’s have jumped on-board of this mobile friendly trend and have now made it top of the SEO ranking list to have a fully responsive website.

Now Seriously, if Google are telling you to do something. Then, you do it. Having a mobile friendly and responsive website will not only improve your rankings within Google but can help maximise sales.

In the UK, smartphones overtake laptops as the internet users number one device. This means the majority of people coming to your website are going to be using a mobile device. So, if you haven’t made your existing website mobile friendly, then you should. Like, now.

Did you know that we spend almost twice as long online with our smartphones than on laptops and personal computers. On average, mobile users spent nearly two hours online each day using a smartphone in March 2015 (1 hour and 54 minutes), compared to just over an hour spent online by laptop and PC users (1 hour and nine minutes)

If you have technical skills then you can have a go at making your website responsive, there are online tutorials you can follow or you can hire a skilled, reputable web development company (Well, Hello there!) However, the latter might be the way to go if you have no technical experience.

The right and wrong way to be mobile friendly.

Is your website responsive?

As you can see the desktop version, on a mobile device is quite difficult to view, the user has to zoom in order to read the information and view pricing. I’m sure you may have experienced this yourself… It is quite frustrating and usually forces users to leave that particular website. In comparison the mobile friendly version is easy to read, easier to navigate, has faster download speed and will have touch friendly buttons and page elements.

Being mobile friendly really is critical to your business. Statistics and the Google God’s aren’t ever wrong!

There are several key advantages to having a mobile friendly website, including:

  • Improved Search Visibility
  • Enhanced User Experience
  • Increased Sales
  • Boosted Brand Identity

Sadly, even if your website was built a few years ago it may not be mobile friendly. Google only introduced mobile optimised rankings in April 2015. Which means some business owners may not realise the negative impact to the user a non-mobile friendly website may be giving. This will have an overall effect to the company’s bottom line, resulting in poor sales.

Is your existing website mobile friendly? Take the Google Mobile Friendly Test to find out! Just enter your website’s URL and Google will tell you instantly if your website is responsive.

So, What’s it gonna cost me?

We make all of our websites responsive, if you’re purchasing on of our website packages then your website will be mobile friendly. Our website packages start at only £295

If you already have an existing website, then we can definitely try to make it responsive. Responsive Upgrades are available from £250

However, if your website was created several years ago then we might recommend starting from scratch. This is because there are new web development techniques and themes that may make it more efficient to re-do – rather than modify – your site. This is especially the case for websites:

  • Built with Flash
  • Using outdated E-commerce platforms

The good news is that if you start from scratch there may be an existing template/theme that we can stick with and you may be able to reuse your existing content which can save time and money.

Either way, we will give you our very honest opinion and because our website packages are affordable it may be financially beneficial to you to purchase a website package instead.
